about David retired from a senior local government post in 2000 to concentrate on landscape painting. Originally a geographer with a degree at Birmingham University, David first qualified as a teacher then as a chartered Town Planner leading to his ultimate posting as Director of Planning and Technical Services with Bromsgrove Council. With a life long interest in landscapes, starting with geography field sketches, through rural conservation studies as a planner it seems a natural step that David should now be painting what he sees around him.
Married with two grown up children, still lives in the Cotswolds and paints mainly in watercolour, sometimes with a touch of pastel. Influenced by early professional training in landscape architecture and by mentor and good friend Barry Herniman. David is a founder member of the Portway Group which hosts annual exhibitions, in Painswick, featuring Gloucestershire artists. When he isn't painting watercolours David enjoys walking, playing tennis and checking out the local pubs with his wife Jackie. At
the moment pictures in the gallery are only available as originals,
framed or unframed, but we hope to be able to offer framed and unframed
prints in the near future. If you like any of the pictures in the gallery
section then you can contact the artist directly (through the contacts
section of the website). Commisions may be available on request. |
